Uncle Mathew Doyle sharing cultural knowledge with the next generation at Briar

Matthew Doyle is a well-respected First Nations artist and cultural advisor, known as ‘Uncle Matt’.

Matthew has a celebrated career as a dancer, musician, composer, songman, didgeridoo player, cultural consultant and educator with over 35 years experience in the performing arts. He has toured all over Australia and internationally performing in many countries as a soloist and collaborator. We were so fortunate to have him share his cultural knowledge with our Aboriginal students here at Briar Road Public School.

Uncle Matt imparted his wisdom upon the group sharing stories and interpreting dance actions that describe the stories of the Traditional Custodians of the lands here at Briar, The Dharawal People.

Our students enjoyed their experience with Uncle Matt, gaining a deeper appreciation for both the physical and spiritual element to Aboriginal Dance.

Be on the lookout for our deadly Aboriginal Dance Group as they continue to grow and immerse themselves on their journey of reconciliation.
