02 Apr 2025

The 2nd of April is recognized worldwide as World Autism Awareness Day, here at Briar Road Public School we are dedicated to fostering a supportive environment where every student feels valued, understood and included regardless of their differences.
Today we were excited to participate in a variety of activities aimed at raising awareness about autism and celebrating inclusion. Staff and students participated in initiatives designed to educate one another about autism, its characteristics, and how we can support our peers who may navigate the world differently.
Our Stage 3 Amaroo students led our school on a tour around our 'Chill Out' space dedicated to our support unit and caterering to all their sensory needs.
By participating in these activities, we hope to create a culture of acceptance where diversity is celebrated. All our classes had a lot of fun and felt a deeper appreciation for regulating coping strategies and sensory input.
Together, let’s champion kindness, awareness, and respect—not just on Autism Awareness Day, but every day.
Happy World Autism Awareness Day!
