This NAIDOC Week, our students were able to learn the importance of the theme 'Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud and Proud' through a range of activities. The activities including students learning about the importance of NAIDOC Week and its origins, the celebration of themes celebrated each year and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples undeniable and sustainable connection to country. Throughout NAIDOC Week, just as NAIDOC was celebrating its 50th anniversary of becoming the National Aboriginal and Islanders Day Observance Committee (NAIDOC), Briar Road Public School celebrates it 50th anniversary too. Our school had the opportunity to reflect and celebrate the achievements of what we have achieved in Aboriginal Education over the decades.
